Blue Orange Green Pink Purple

Welcome

My adventures in life!

A life lived in love will never be dull.

- Leo Buscaglia

Numéro 6 fini

Got up fairly early this morning to go to the doc (good ole walk-in clinics). Apparently I always assume worst-case scenario and had nothing to worry about. All I have is high acid in my stomach which causes some discomfort and a constant feeling of hunger. Hopefully the perscribed meds work...

To answer a comment about the books I'm reading - for future reference - check out the right hand side of my website, I do keep a list and link to the web so you can learn more about the book. Since January, I've read:

The Personifid Project - R.E. Bartlett
The LOST Chronicles
Messy Spirituality - Mike Yaconelli
The Lazarus Trap - Davis Bun
Lost in Rooville - Ray Blackston
Delirious Summer - Ray Blackston

Today I resisted bring a book to work - amazing, I know.

Bookworm

"Nerd!... Michelle, how many books have you read this year already?"

"On my sixth"

"That's more than I've ever read in a year!"

"What can I say, I'm a geek"

Lately I've been so addicted to reading! Especially Ray Blackston books or anything witty enough to make me laugh...I even gave up watching tv last night to read. Even worse, I wish I could read during work! I think I need some therapy...or a good distraction of some sort ;)

Weekend happenings...

Watching 2 movies and going out for supper with a good friend (in this case, Mike) is the best way to spend a Saturday afternoon/evening...especially when I haven't seen him for 9 months...time flys by...

(old pic from prom)

Tomorrow I am teaching Sunday School and then hanging out with the young adults at my church - lunch and skating.

The weekend is gonna be over before I know it! Ah well, that's the price for actually having a life! :)

*UPDATE*
Can't believe how sore my legs and feet are from skating! It was definitely a lot of fun and so want to go again soon! (Right, Dee?!?)

A few items

~ Finished reading another book this week - that makes 2! The Lazurus Trap and Lost in Rooville. Both great books on different spectrums - Rooville was definitely a book of some good chuckles.

~ I took myself coat shopping - gotta love having shoulders of a football player and being of the female species. Buying from the men's department is always so much fun. *rolls eyes* I pretty much bought the first coat the fit decently (plus it was on sale). Only downfall of this coat - the hood was missing and I didn't notice until after I bought it... but at the same time - I don't care. I can always buy a hat or ear muffs! :)

~ Hitt'n the theatres and dinner tomorrow nite with a good friend who I only see twice a year. Cheers to fun times!

With the smell of coffee

Why is everyone so quiet in the morning? Can't u all just smile and leave your baggage/probs at home? Most of the time I'm chatty and happy in the morning but walking into this office sometimes just kills it. Sure makes the days drag on and on and on....

Crack-a-lack'n

Good times this evening. Watched "Last Holiday" with my friend Jenn...haven't laughed so hard during a movie in a long time! It was a good movie, I enjoyed it for sure.
One quote that stuck in my mind: Next time... we will laugh more, we'll love more; we just won't be so afraid.

I don't know why but for some reason it sorta hit home. I've always been a cautious person, not up for things that make me uncomfortable or slightly risky. I hate feeling out of control (eg. plummeting on a pair of skis down a hill, etc). I like the safety of my box. Altho at the same time, I should let go and just try things...live a little, let go of some of my insecurities. Not always being afraid of failing or the judgements of others.
Love is a whole other thing too. I love my family and friends dearly but what about love for those who have hurt us, or who we don't know or who we dispise?!? Love is a fundamental part of life....

"This world boils down to one fundamental - LOVE.
Today’s entire society is about looking good, making impressions, finding love,
building relationships, deepening friendships, etc. It just blows my mind how
something so simple is what makes this world go round. Musicians have love for
making music, artist have love for art, we all have a love of something or for
something. It’s always about what do you love? Who do you love? Who loves
you?
It’s amazing how much our hearts long for earthly love and not just from
out family. Even for Christians who love God with all their heart still have a
longing for more. Shouldn’t we be satisfied with Christ’s
love?"

“We are created by love, to live in love, for
the sake of love.” ~Gerald May

(quotes from entries I've never posted before)

Strange how one simple (and not that profound) statement makes you reflect upon your own life. Gotta love it! :)

Monday

- Monday mornings are evil... definitely need a coffee.

- Working in an empty office (which I normally share with 2 others) ....priceless! *sigh* I'm going to enjoy the silence :)

- Amount of work to do...too much!

- Hours until home time....7.5

Things You Say...

J - "I need to keep drinking more water"
M - "What are you, a camel?"

J - "Can I vote myself for the award- I'm the best darn employee you've ever had!"
(insert J becoming a target of a dart gun)

M- "Don't you dare!"
C- "Don't you dare or don't you even think about it. Or don't you dare think about doing it?"
(or something along those lines)

T - "That's not my point..."
M - "It's on the end of a pencil"

Mornings

When good things happen to good people...

...like getting a ride from someone who normally would speed past me. I was suprised and more grateful then you know. Funny how "in the dumps" you can feel but one little thing can put a smile on your face.

You are My Joy

Such a fantastic song.....(even better when you actually hear the track). David Crowder Band rocks!

And He set me on fire, and I am burning alive.
With His breath in my lungs I am coming undone.
And I cannot hold it in and remain composed.
Love's taken over me and so I propose the letting myself go.
I am letting myself go.

You are my joy.
You are my joy.
You are my joy.
You are my joy.

I need to catch my breath, I need to.
I need to catch my breath, give me a moment now.

You are my joy.
You are my joy.
You are my joy.
You are my joy.

I'm laughing so hard...
(You are My Joy - David Crowder Band)

Distractions

"Entertaining angels by the light of my tv screen" (newsboys)

Why must our minds always be entertained? and distracted with so many things? What's wrong with peace and quiet once in a while? I miss living in the country that when you wanted to get away, you could get away....to a countryside full of God's craftiness, where your mind is free to wander and contemplate things great and small. Those are the moments that refresh and renew my spirit and of late, I'd really like to have some of that. Not that I'm a terribly busy person but there are so many things I could do, songs to listen to, emails, chats, entries to write - why is it so hard to push it all aside, turn off the music and just soak in the solitude? Oh Muskoka Woods, how I miss the early morning mist coming off the lake while walking to work, the gorgeous sunrises and sets, downpours of warm summer rain, refreshing cool natural water, trees and sand.

I cannot live in the city my entire life for I will go crazy! There is a huge difference between silence in the city and in the country - your ears will notice! I dare you to try it sometime. When I go back home after being away for a long time...once I'm standing outside, I'm just standing.....absorbing the absolute stillness of the country, inhaling deep breaths of clean air, gazing heavenward at the glittering stars.....just wishing I could bottle it all to pull out for the times I need to escape.

Four Bucks

It was cold. The bus wasn't at the stop yet. Starbucks looked all warm inside. Do I really need something to drink this morning. No, not really....but, but...it's too cold out here.

"Hot Camamel Apple Cider, please"

"There you go, have a nice day"

*sip*

Okay, the whipcream and caramel on top are nice but mixed with apple cider? *sip* Okay, so I'm not liking it too much....tasting like melted (and hot) brown sugar. But I paid so much for this I must finish it. Bus is here, don't want to carry cup *chug*...almost half way done...3/4 the way done..ugggh, can't finish it.... the cup hit the trash. *shudder* Now where is some gum?

I guess somethings are not worth trying... or ever buying again. I'll stick to my chai tea next time - predictability can't always be a bad thing.

Farewell CRC

It's official as of Sunday morning. My "membership" at my parents church is "lapsed". Farewell Christian Reformed denomination!

For more on this topic - see Contemplations 'r Us.

CAUTION: This continued post on that site may involve some very opinionated remarks which not all will agree or may find untrue in their eyes. If so, do not continue on to my other blog.

La La Land

  • It seems to be that there are not enough hours in the evening....nor enough hours of sleep at night.
  • I feel like I am still stuck in vacation mode.
  • The pile of dishes in the kitchen is disasterous
  • I swear we've fast forwarded to spring
  • My umbrella is broken
  • The dryer eats my socks
  • I have a craving for a grande Eggnog Chai Tea Latte.
  • In 10 hours I will be at work again

*If you comment, leave a name or initial...please :)

The first CD ever owned: Kosmos Express, Simulcast (1998)

On Top of the World

My mind is in a cloud
I'm a four-leaf clover
About to make it real
I'm going undercover
So bring me your intentions
And we'll start on the double
Up and down and up and down and I feel up and I feel down

I wonder why you smoke when you know it's a killer
History never steals it just serves as a mirror
And when your faith is there someone plays all our heroes
It's hard to say it's hard to say believe me man I'm here to say it
Don't bring me down

Cause I'm on top of the world

You're lucky Jesus loves you cause sometimes I just don't
My back is aching me but so are my eyeballs
Give me one more chance so I can talk to my Maker
I'll tell Him so I'll tell Him so and I'm so sorry I'm so low

Cause I'm on top of the world

I'm on a road
And I'll know when I get there
Cause you'll be thereAnd I'll feel true
There's so many channels yet there's nothing to watch now
Better to havefamily your values are not found
If truth could write a book I'd be nervous to look
Don't you know it don't you know it don't you know Itold you so

- - - - - - -

One band wonder although it seems like no one on the planet has ever heard of them besides me. I guess that is what happens when the cd was a freebie.

Convert of a sort

As of this weekend I have become a user of Firefox! I did not realize how fantastic this internet browser could be until now. I'm impressed and I am definitely a fan! Except one small thing - it doesn't support msn spaces. Guess what this means? I have a new blog! That's right, apparently I didn't think I had enough so thus I have created another one. Actually this blog will become my main in which I will post pretty much the same as on my msn spaces - this way others without msn can still read my entries.

So welcome to my world! Snoop around, explore, take a look, drop a line..

Friday ramblings

-How can you tell it's a Friday? Getting razzed twice within 5min of walking in the door. Some ppl are just too perky and witty for the beginning of the work day.

-Nothing is more theraputic than throwing out junk....

-Apparently because I am dutch, I am so cheap as to give a gift card with no $ on it. Ha, so not true. :P

-Can i get my wit back? Gah for my lack of the bantering ability this week.
